Newsflash

Welcome to IU, this is a spot for Dave to ramble.  My bandwidth has graciously been provided by Handhosting.com. And of course, this is a new layout for everything.

This vehicle is meant to act in a replentishment role for the MA-859. Usually, a pair of RADS will be the parent vehicles for a single SM-59. The MA-859 and SM-59 crews are cross trained so most roles of the individuals can be interchanged.

This is a fact sheet that has been assembled for the Scooterville Library. This is for historical purposes only and these plans should not be used to create any vehicle. If you choose to build a ship, the Library will not be held liable in any way, especially when you blow yourself up or crash into a moon.

  • Length: 12M
  • Weight: 37 tonnes
  • Crew: 2
  • Armament: one 4cm plasmagun (only in newer construction)
The propulsion system on this vehicle is a small microfusion reactor coupled with a continuously variable transmission which powers the two rear axles. Top speed is 75kph and this vehicle can go just about everywhere the MA-859 can.

The SM-59 has the same ceramic armor plate as the MA-859. It also has the same explosive plate defensive system as the MA-859. The explosive defensive plates are designed to explode outward and destroy any incoming projectiles that could do more damage than the passive armor can withstand.

On later construction projects, a single 4cm plasmagun mounted over the crew compartment. Earlier models contained no weaponry.

The crew of the SM-59 is of two men, a driver and an operator. These two men are interchangeable with either a driver or gunner of a MA-859. Usually, one SM-59 will be responsible for servicing a pair of MA-859's. The storage ability of the vehicle is such that it can provide 25 projectiles and propellant to each of two MA-859's. Basic maintenance equipment is also included to fix routine problems without requiring the parent vehicle to be deadlined and hauled back to a depot. The crane/pump arm on the SM-59 is capable of delivering the projectiles or propellant without the need for personnel to dismount.
