Newsflash

Welcome to IU, this is a spot for Dave to ramble.  My bandwidth has graciously been provided by Handhosting.com. And of course, this is a new layout for everything.

The MA-859 has been designed to be a high mobility, low weight, piece of ground artillery. It is light enough to be transported with planetary landing craft and fast enough to keep up with the advnacing armor front.

This is a fact sheet that has been assembled for the Scooterville Library. This is for historical purposes only and these plans should not be used to create any vehicle. If you choose to build a ship, the Library will not be held liable in any way, especially when you blow yourself up or crash into a moon.

  • Length: 17M
  • Weight: 57 tonnes
  • Crew: 3
  • Armament: 1 18cm plasma cannon
Power in the vehicle is provided by a microfusion reactor. This coupled with the 6x6 powertrain offers a high degree of mobility. The oversized baloon tires allow the vehicle to go nearly everywhere that a similarly tracked vehicle could. Top speed is 85kph.

The MA-859 offers hardened ceramic armor. The ceramics help to bring the overall weight of the vehicle down to the point where it can be easily transported. In addition to the ceramic plate armor the vehicle has a number of explosive plates attached around the circumference. These plates explode outwards when a projectile comes in that is larger than what the armor plate can handle.

The 18cm plasma cannon is a capable weapon that has pinpoint accuracy. The range on a flat surface is 70km, and the gun can be raised to 75 degrees above horizontal and 12 degrees left and right. The ammo used in this gun is constructed in such a manner that the projectile is surrounded and contains a large amount of plasma. With this both the kinetic and plasma energy are transferred into the target. When the projectile strikes a target the shell of the core collapses and a large explosion results. HEAT rounds, anti-personel rounds, and ground tunneling round are all available. Internal storage is available for enough supplies for 15 firings. Each round is made of the projectile itself and a liquid propellant used for propulsion and to create the plasma field.

The layout within the vehicle is that of one commander, a driver and a gunner. With the combination of lowered weight, high mobility, and heavy firepower, the MA-859 is often used as supporting artillery for ground asaults.
