An Early Explorer Class Ship [Images] The Impulse Institue, located in Scooterville, started work on their first explorer class ship in the early 2120's. These ships were used to build extended knowledge of the universe for the Leage of Planets and Confederation of Chuu. The overriding idea was to have these craft to be long range and self sufficient. These ships are 5300M in length and have a crew of approx. 840. The Edison Class of ships were powered by six hyperspace reactors. This concentration of power generation allowed them to generate their own hyperspace entry points. As of this writing The Opposition has no knowledge of hyperspace or how to use it. It is theorized that this is due to their limited 21st century intellect. Of course, they now have time shift technology, so it is possible that they could discover this knowledge if it were leaked to them. As can be seen in these photos the main superstructure supported a pair of long solar panels and sensor arrays. If needed these can be used to widen a hyperspace entry point enough to allow other ships to pass through as well. Also in these images some of the hydroponic and water relimation cylanders can be seen. The ship's control deck and main command center is hosed in the nose of the ship. The Edison Class ships were very lightly armed. They had a pair of plasma cannons mounted on the underside of the nose but carried no fighters. Here the linkages between the main superstructure and the arrays can be seen. The linkages are mostly comprised of communication and power conduits. These images highlight the sensor arrays and the communication systems imbedded within them.
